Revamping My Writing Space

Hello friends. It’s been a hectic week so I wanted to do a quick and fun little lifestyle type blog for you this week.

My husband and I have been wanting to redo our office for a while and last weekend we finally got time to put together a ton of Ikea furniture. And we didn’t have a single fight! Take that, Ikea curse.

My former writing area was small and dark. I barely had enough room to put all the books and journals I like to keep on hand while I’m working. So I knew I wanted a bigger space.

Oh, you want to see the new desk? Well alright then…

I also wanted to be able to combine my desk and vanity area. Previously, my vanity and makeup storage was a small dresser close to my desk. It was really hard to do my makeup there because I couldn’t actually put my legs under the dresser like I can with my new desk, so I had to sit with my legs to the side and hunch over to look in my mirror. It sucked, but now it doesn’t! Isn’t it nice when things work out?

My last desk had one big drawer at under my keyboard, which wasn’t enough space to store a lot of my papers, my manuscripts, etc. Now I have a nice chest of drawers to store not only my papers and notebooks but my makeup and hair stuff as well.

The only downside to the new desk is that my old desk had a built in bookshelf and now there are 16 homeless books hanging out on my dining room table until I find another place for them. I’m thinking of a wall shelf on the wall to the left of my desk.

I’m proud of how cute and light it looks on my side of the office now and since I got my new desk set up I enjoy being at my desk a lot more, which means a lot more writing is getting done. Hurray!

Thanks, friends. I hope you all have a great Christmas or holiday!

For today’s cat, see the desk picture.

Just kidding, here’s more cat…
